We plan to collect food waste from households for processing into compost at no cost. Food waste from businesses will be collected for a small fee to cover costs. We will, 1. hold regular workshops for different groups and demographics, 2. source a new location or multiple locations to expand our capacity to process more food waste, 3. target apartment dwellers to focus on their needs, purchase more bins and signage, 4. develop materials for workshops and evaluate participant feedback.

Currently most organic waste goes to landfill where it creates dangerous environmental gases.

Composting turns food waste into a resource for growing food and gardens.

We plan to employ long-term unemployed, asylum seekers and refugees, new migrants, younger people experiencing disadvantage, people facing discrimination, caregivers, under-employed workers amongst other skilled professionals to help us run the operation.

Profits made from the sale of finished/aged/mature compost will be used to run educational workshops for all members of the community to increase awareness.

Such a brilliant idea. We have a very efficient open composting setup but it attracts rats. I'm unwilling to throw our compostables in the bin to end as landfill, and this is the solution.

I just love this project and something I have literally hoped someone would do! I'm too slack to be organised around a compost bin for my small yard - and have often agonised about the food waste... but then where would I put the compost?! Arrrggh, it drives me crazy. Thanks so much. Fingers crossed you'll get it up and it develops for all communities.

Awesome idea! I'm an apartment dweller and we have lovely friends who take our compost. It's a bit of an effort to drop it off, so something local would be so appreciated!
